In keeping with our (newly established) tradition, the ECEGSS will once again be hosting a coffee break on the last Friday of the month, Feb. 24th. This falls only a couple of weeks before the Aztec New Year, so we will be celebrating with traditional Mexican pastries.

The Chem, Civil, Biomed and Electrical & Computer Engineering Graduate student associations have teamed up with the Career Centre to deliver a workshop on Job Search & the Labour Market. In this workshop, we will provide an overview of reliable sources of labour market information specific to graduate students. You will be able to reflect on your career desires and develop a plan to explore and search for opportunities that match your desires and assets.
Join us in WB116 on Thursday, February 23 between 12pm and 2pm. Free pizza and pop will be provided. If you plan to attend, please register here so we can plan accordingly.

The ECEGSS is starting a monthly coffee break event on the last Friday of every month! This month, it happens to fall on the Lunar New Year! So we present to you, Coffee Break: Lunar New Year Edition. There will be coffee. There will be dumplings. Come out and take a break!

The ECEGSS along with the other engineering grad student associations will be hosting a pub night to ring in the new year, and new semester, on Thurs. Jan. 12th at Prenup Pub on College Street. There will be free drinks and a chance to win a prize! Food will not be provided, however the kitchen will be open until midnight if you want to order something, or you can come to our town hall meeting before the event (6pm in the Graduate Lounge) for free pizza.
You don’t want to miss this event, new students will have a chance to meet people in their departments, and older students can mingle with students from across the entire faculty of engineering. We ask that you please register in advance if you are planning to attend so that we can have an idea of how many to expect. If you register by the end of day on Monday Jan 9th, you will receive two free drink tickets at the event. All later registrations up until the day of the event will receive one drink ticket.

The ECEGSS will be hosting a trivia night on Wed. Dec. 14th at O’Grady’s (http://www.ogradysoncollege.com/) to help distract us all from exam season (whether we are writing them, or grading them this year). There will be food, drinks, and prizes, you don’t want to miss it! Trivia will be in teams of up to four people. Feel free to come with a team if you have one in mind, however if you are coming alone or as part of a smaller group we may move you around to even out the team numbers. It’s a good chance to meet some new friends!
