Town Hall Meeting re: UTGSU Census

Hey ECE,

Branden Rizzuto, a 2nd year PhD Student in the Department of Anthropology and the Academics and Funding Commissioner (Divisions I and II) for the University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union (UTGSU), has launched a one-year project to oversee and execute a university-wide graduate student census which will gauge graduate student perception, and gather data, on a number of themes related to the day-to-day lives and issues of graduate students at the University of Toronto. Some of these themes include but are not limited to: perceptions of the UTGSU, perceptions of the University of Toronto, funding, academic resources, student life and recreation, mental health, harassment and violence on campus, and accessibility. The final aim of this project is to formulate the results into an analytical report published online for the UTGSU and other university bodies (both student and non-student) to identify graduate student specific issues at the University of Toronto, and for these bodies to utilize the data in the report as a valuable resource in future decision making.

The project is currently in its early stages of development. These early stages include a wide-scale and intensive consultation process with graduate student bodies and other groups at the University of Toronto. Branden believes that contributions from ECE graduate students to this consultation process would be of high value to the project overall.

In order to aid Branden in this endeavour, the ECEGSS has arranged to hold a town hall meeting between Branden and other ECE Graduate Students on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2:00-3:00 PM in BA 5157. We encourage all ECE graduate students to attend and contribute.

Branden would like to thank you for considering his request, and he sincerely hopes that many take it upon themselves to contribute to what will no doubt be a very large-scale and beneficial undertaking for graduate students across the university.
